Central Library
Introduction
Library is a place to quench one’s intellectual thirst. The Central Library at Vardhaman is the powerhouse of knowledge which shelves a collection of 67,142 volumes of books. Furthermore, it has subscribed to over 8,588 Online Journals of IEEE ASPP & POP Online, ASME, ASCE, J-Gate (Social Science & Humanities), Elsevier’s Scopus (Bibliographic/Citation Database) and 41 Lac e-books of World eBook Library and subscribed to more than 156 Indian and International Journals & Magazines in Print. Spread over two floors with a built-up area of 30,000 sqft the library can accommodate 500 students.

To provide the right information to the right user at the right time in the right format through comprehensive quality information resources and services in support of learning, teaching and research needs of the community.
NGL Counter is used for user statistics instead of the manual gate register, which is mandatory for check in and checkout of library users.
Digital library is equipped with 30 systems to access E-journals & E-books. In addition Multimedia E-Learning Center and photocopying are made available for the convenience of the users. NPTEL Facility (National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning) to access web & video lectures and Institutional Membership of DELNET (Inter- library loan) for resource sharing are available in the library. It also provides access to National Digital Library of India (NDLI) for collection of e-Learning resources with a single window search facility being developed at IIT Kharagpur.
The Central Library is computerized with NewGenLib Helium 3.2 Software, which is an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) with Barcode Technology that supports all in-house operations of the library. The Central Library can be accessed through the On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) within the campus premises.
The library offers an integrated and dynamic environment for conducting academic and research activities. Multiple copies ensure that resources are easily available in Reference Section and Stack Area as well. Central Library is Wi-fi enabled and under CCTV surveillance. For circulation of library books ‘Automated Self Service Kiosk’ is installed in the Central Library which enables users to issue (check-out), return (check-in) and renew books on their own. For each transaction, Kiosk generates a receipt with details of library documents transacted with due dates.
The Central Library has a DTH antenna to receive the SWAYAM PRABHA group of 34 channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24×7 basis practicing the GSAT-15 satellite. The channels are uplinked from BISAG, Gandhinagar. The contents are provided by NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. The INFLIBNET Centre maintains the web portal. Students and staff members can watch the MOOCs offered through SWAYAM.
The Library subscribed N-LIST programme (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for scholarly content) is the college component of eShodhSindhu. It provides access to e-resources for library users from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre.
It has become the institutional member (10 Library Identity Cards for 30 documents) of British Council Library, Hyderabad. We can access and as well as borrow the entitlements like books, magazines DVDs/CDs and get access to world class resources from this library for the benefit of students and faculty members.
